Well....it has finally come. I will be hitting another milestone in my life tomorrow. I'll be turning 35. So, it's hasn't really bothered me that much...until yesterday. I went to pick up some aftershave for David from the mall. Of course, the sales ladies (whom I will now dub "miss perky pants 1" and "miss perky pants 2") were just waiting to get their hands on me the moment I walked through the door. I was hoping that I would have the will power to just get the aftershave and go and then perky pants 1 asked me the question, "So what skin care products do you use?" Right before I had walked into the store, I was thinking that, gosh, I'm 35 and should be thinking about my skin, wrinkles, etc. Well, wouldn't you know it, miss perky pants also knew just what I was thinking, "Girl it's about time you focused on that face!" So, $150 later I bought eye cream, moisturizer, and cleanser. But, I have to say that my face is feeling oh-so-smooth and I can already see those little wrinkles around my eyes starting to plump up and disappear.I've also been thinking about how old I'm getting. Not that 35 is old, but here are a few facts about me....and why I feel old- I have been driving a car for 20 years
- I've known my best friend for 21 years
- I have been out of high school for 17 years (that means that I could have been in Kindergarten all the way through college....AGAIN)
- I am married and have two kids (okay that may not officially count as old)
- My daughters teacher referred to me as "Mrs." the other day
- I think little girls clothes are too "grown up" looking
- Teenagers annoy me
- I actually used the word "whipper snapper" in a sentence
- I'm buying eye cream
- I've been called "ma'am" on more than one occasion...recently
But, it ain't all that bad. I actually am looking forward to when I turn 40 so I can throw myself a big party and welcome in middle age with a bang. For now, I'll just stick with the upswing to middle age and be happy that even though I'm 35 people still think I'm much younger. I guess my wrinkles and aging skin aren't as bad as I think.
I didn't know it was your birthday! Happy Belated Birthday! Your experience with the creams, etc. ring quite familiar, I chuckled reading about that. You look MUCH younger than 35! And you have GREAT hair! :)
